Job summary
Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking a Cleared Senior/Principal Electromechanical Technologist to support Explosives Component Manufacturing onsite. The role involves hands-on manufacturing, welding, and process development in a high‑security environment with a DOE Q clearance requirement.
You will contribute to yield improvement, corrective actions, and qualification of new equipment, while coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent in STEM field.
- Active DOE Q clearance to start.
- Hands-on experience in welding and explosive production processes.
Responsibilities
- Execute internal manufacturing activities including MQ deliverables and experimental work.
- Perform resistance welding, laser welding, cleaning, explosive powder pressing, explosive handling, soldering and other hands-on operations.
- Support or implement corrective or preventive actions.
- Be involved with new process/equipment development and qualification.
- Perform initial diagnostics on nonconformances, monitor area health, identify ways to increase yields and mistake proof processes.
- Seek out and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Implement new manufacturing technologies or equipment.
