Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high-voltage power systems up to 500kV. Travel up to 75% regionally.

You will lead testing projects, mentor junior technicians, ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and deliver detailed reports.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies incl. short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; write engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
