Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on power systems up to 500kV. This full-time role requires travel up to 75% for regional and national projects, with base compensation up to $95/hour.

You will analyze test results, prepare engineering reports, mentor technicians, and lead multi-discipline project teams while maintaining NFPA 70E, OSHA, and NETA MTS/ATS compliance.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficient with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
