Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high‑voltage power systems up to 500kV. Travel up to 75% regionally/nationally with strong emphasis on safety and data-driven reporting.

You will analyze test results, generate comprehensive engineering reports, and mentor junior technicians as you lead projects and ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; willing to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based).
• Measure insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance on transformers and switchgear.
• Interpret results and write comprehensive engineering reports with findings.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field; serve as technical lead on projects.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety.
