Job summary

SpaceX in Memphis, TN is seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Engineer (AI Supercomputer) to own electrical safety controls across expanding AI infrastructure. You will lead arc-flash analyses and develop robust safety programs for high-density, critical power systems in a mission-critical data-center environment.

The role requires NFPA 70E expertise, hands-on experience with data-center architectures, and the ability to train teams while coordinating with design, construction, and commissioning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; 5+ years in electrical power systems/safety
• Experience owning NFPA 70E electrical safety programs in industrial/critical facilities
• Experience with arc-flash studies, short-circuit analysis, and coordination using ETAP/SKM/EasyPower

Responsibilities

• Own the site electrical safety program per NFPA 70E.
• Establish and maintain LOTO, switching orders, and live-dead-live verification for UPS, PDUs, and switchgear.
• Lead arc-flash hazard analyses, labeling, PPE categorization, and boundary definitions.
• Train and audit NFPA 70E Qualified Persons; develop safety training for operators and contractors.
• Review energized work and procedures from a safety perspective; stop work if unsafe.
• Ensure grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent damage and injury.
• Validate failover procedures for ATS, generators, UPS during transfers.
• Collaborate with design/construction teams to embed electrical safety in new builds.
• Conduct risk assessments (FMEA) for distribution, energy storage, and DC plants.
• Investigate incidents and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Monitor hazards from cooling failures and high temp; address insulation and PPE wear.
• Establish safe operating limits and emergency response procedures for electrical events.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA/OSHA/IEEE/IEC codes; coordinate with contractors/vendors.
