Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Data Center Safety Engineer (Electrical) to lead electrical safety programs for high-density AI infrastructure and cooling systems in the Memphis area. You will perform arc-flash analyses, risk assessments, and confirm grounding, power quality, and failover procedures to ensure safe rapid scaling of compute capacity.

The role requires a strong background in electrical system architecture, thermal management, energy storage, and compliance with NFPA, OSHA, IEC, and ISO 45001

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or related engineering field with safety focus.
• Experience with electrical safety programs, arc-flash, LOTO, and power systems.
• Familiar with NFPA/ISO safety standards and risk assessment methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical safety programs including arc-flash analyses and LOTO on UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and generators.
• Perform risk assessments of power, cooling, fire/smoke, energy storage, and human factors.
• Conduct FMEA, HAZOP and other structured risk assessments for critical systems.
• Ensure grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent equipment damage.
• Validate ATS and generator failover procedures from a safety perspective.
• Develop emergency response plans for power loss, cooling failure, and other incidents.
