Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Electrical Safety Engineer for its AI supercomputing expansion in the Memphis area. The role focuses on owning the electrical safety program, leading arc-flash studies, and implementing lockout/tagout across UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and energy storage systems.

You will train NFPA 70E personnel and ensure safe operating conditions in high-density power environments. The successful candidate will oversee grounded systems, protective device coordination, and interconnection

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, or related engineering field
3+ years of professional experience in electrical power systems, electrical safety, or critical-facility electrical operations
Direct ownership or administration of an NFPA 70E electrical safety program in an industrial or mission-critical environment
Hands-on data center experience with high-availability electrical environments
Experience with arc-flash studies, short-circuit analysis, and protective device coordination using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent
Knowledge of OSHA 1910.147, OSHA 1910.269/1910.333, NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, IEEE 1584, and NESC as applicable
Proficiency with electrical design tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit)
PE license and CSP or equivalent EHS credential are preferred

Responsibilities

Own the site electrical safety program in accordance with NFPA 70E and manage lockout/tagout and live-dead-live practices
Lead arc-flash hazard analysis and incident energy studies; maintain labeling and PPE categories
Qualify, train, and audit NFPA 70E Qualified Persons; develop and deliver safety training for operators and technicians
Review energized work, electrical switching, and commissioning procedures from a safety perspective
Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent equipment damage and injuries
Validate failover procedures for ATS, UPS, and generators during transfers
Coordinate with design/construction teams to integrate electrical safety in new builds and expansions
Conduct structured risk assessments including FMEA and electrical hazard assessments
Investigate incidents, drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure compliance with NFPA 70/70E/70B, OSHA guidelines, and data-center industry standards
