Job summary

SpaceX is expanding its Memphis-based AI infrastructure and large-scale data center facilities. The Safety Engineering role focuses on establishing electrical and thermal safety controls for high-density compute systems, with emphasis on reliability, grounding, and emergency response planning.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical system architecture, thermodynamics, energy storage, and compliance with NFPA/ISO standards, and will relocate to the Memphis area as needed to support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial/systems engineering, chemical engineering, fire protection engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with PLCs, IoT device administration, and scripting/coding for automation or data analysis.
  • CSP, PE, and/or data-center certifications (e.g., CEM or NFPA) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical safety programs including arc-flash analysis and lockout/tagout on UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and generators.
  • Conduct risk assessments of power and cooling systems, fire/smoke, energy storage, and human factors.
  • Perform FMEA/HAZOP studies and other risk assessments for critical systems.
  • Ensure grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent damage and injury.
