Stinson LLP is seeking an experienced patent agent to join our patent prosecution group within the Intellectual Property and Technology Division in New York. The role focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S.

and foreign patent applications, and performing patentability assessments to support clients across multiple industries. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience, with strong writing and communication skills, the ability to manage a

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket and ownership of applications.
• Experience collaborating with supervising partners, patent admins, docketing specialists.
• Law firm or in-house IP experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft and globally prosecute patent applications.
• Coordinate with foreign law firms to file foreign patent applications.
• Correspond with clients for processing and legalization of documents for filing in U.S. and foreign offices.
• Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing License when needed.
• Prepare and send notices to clients regarding deadlines.
• Correspond with foreign firms regarding filings, deadlines and billings.
• Meet billable hour target of 1650 per year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
