Job summary

Stinson LLP seeks an experienced patent agent to join the patent prosecution group within the Intellectual Property and Technology Division. The role involves drafting and prosecuting U.S.

and foreign patent applications and providing patentability assessments for a diverse client base across industries. Applicants should have at least 5 years’ patent preparation and prosecution experience, with USPTO registration and strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket and ownership of patents throughout prosecution.
• Experience collaborating with supervising partners, patent admins, paralegals, and docketing specialists.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications.
• Provide patentability assessments and assist with freedom-to-operate and due diligence.
• Maintain client patent portfolio and send notices regarding deadlines.
• Coordinate with foreign law firms and clients for filings and filings-related tasks.
• Meet billable hour target of 1650 hours per year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
