Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team in Dallas, TX, with flexibility to base in Austin, TX. The role leads electrical design for diverse building projects and mentors junior staff, advancing technical leadership from concept through construction.

The successful candidate will collaborate with architects, MEP teams, and owners to deliver sustainable, code-compliant solutions and contribute to proposal activities while prioritizing safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience designing building systems.
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Experience designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and low-voltage systems for commercial or institutional facilities.
• Knowledge of NEC, energy codes, and industry standards; proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects.
• Develop construction documents for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
• Perform and review electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and technical studies.
• Coordinate designs with architects, mechanical, structural engineers, contractors, and owners.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
• Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and construction observation activities.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, and contractor submittals during construction.
