Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of MV/LV electrical systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will set engineering standards, direct power system studies, and engage with clients and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience leading MV/LV design programs.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP) for load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and motor starting.
  • Ability to lead substation design from concept through detailed engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CSA, and IEC standards for industrial and process facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical load lists; perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, harmonics).
  • Prepare arc flash hazard analysis per IEEE 1584; grounding calculations per IEEE 80; size transformers, cables, switchgear, and UPS/battery systems.
  • Create single line diagrams for MV/LV systems and prepare equipment layouts, cable schedules, and duct bank designs.
  • Specify MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, UPS, and standby generator packages; prepare area classifications.
