Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead MV/LV electrical design for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will set engineering standards, run power system studies, and guide substation and protection design while coordinating with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience with leadership of MV/LV design programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in power system analysis software (SKM/ETAP) covering load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and motor starting.
  • Experience leading substation design from concept through detailed engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CSA, and IEC standards for industrial and process facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical load lists; perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, and harmonic analysis.
  • Prepare arc flash hazard analysis and grounding calculations; size transformers, cables, switchgear, buses, capacitor banks, and UPS/battery systems.
  • Create single-line diagrams for MV and LV distribution; prepare equipment layouts, cable schedules, and duct bank designs.
  • Specify MV/LV equipment and prepare area classifications and protection coordination drawings.
  • Lead vendor pre-qualification, technical bid evaluation, and factory audits for safety-related or nuclear-classified equipment.
