Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the United States is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design teams across a wide range of projects including power, process, healthcare, and government facilities. You will guide the project from concept through construction, balancing budget, schedule, and client needs.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment specs, reviewing vendor drawings, managing change orders, mentoring engineers, and ensuring QA/QC. Travel up to 25% and PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited degree and 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, EPC preferred.
• FE exam completion after ABET program with 7+ years of experience, EPC preferred.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience, EPC preferred.
• Expert knowledge of ANSI/IEEE standards and standard engineering techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks.
• Ability to travel.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of projects from concept to design completion per PM guidance.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review electrical vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage changes.
• Quality review drawings and coordinate with CAD software; ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate field inspections, calculations, testing, and installations.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors; identify new business opportunities.
