Job summary

Burns & McDonnell's Power global practice seeks an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer in the Columbus area. The role focuses on electrical design for power generation facilities, including fossil, hydrogen, solar, nuclear, and storage projects.

The Lead Electrical Engineer will guide project teams through design and construction, adapt plans to client requirements and budget, and travel as needed on large projects. PE preferred; strong knowledge of ANSI/IEEE standards is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years electrical engineering experience (EPC project experience preferred) required.
• Or, Bachelor Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years electrical engineering experience (EPC project experience preferred) required.
• Or, Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years electrical engineering experience (EPC project experience preferred) required.
• Proficient in electrical equipment design standards ANSI/IEEE; strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings.
• Design electrical components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
• Apply knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, standards, and procedures.
• Research and compile project-related data for managers.
• Utilize design software to perform calculations and plant designs.
• Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations in support of project execution.
• Act as a field engineer on construction sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
