Job summary

Arup in Washington DC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to anchor the Energy Team and lead design of behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter energy projects. The role focuses on urban energy, microgrids, and large EVSE infrastructure, with responsibility for technical and economic evaluation and client interaction.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of energy modelers, electrical & power engineers, and resilience consultants, delivering projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in electrical engineering required or equivalent.
• At least 8 years of experience in renewable power at urban/utility scale.
• Experience with electrical engineering calculations and detailed design packages.
• PE license or eligible to obtain PE license and act as EOR on projects.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication.
• Experience with techno-economic evaluations using PV software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design packages from concept to construction documents for energy projects up to 1000V.
• Prepare interconnection permits and load letters.
• Deliver feasibility studies and red flag reports.
• Create energy modeling to quantify needs and right-size equipment.
• Provide construction support and present work to clients.
• Develop technical proposals for prospective work.
