Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team in Dallas, TX (also Austin) to lead electrical design for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.

The role involves mentoring junior staff, coordinating with architects and other engineers, performing calculations, and delivering projects from concept through construction. EIT is required; PE license is preferred; Revit and AutoCAD experience is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience designing building systems.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and low-voltage systems for commercial or institutional facilities.
  • Knowledge of NEC, energy codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience using Revit and AutoCAD for building systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects.
  • Develop construction documents for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Perform and review electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and technical studies.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, contractors, and owners.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
