Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer to join the Property & Buildings Team in Dallas, Texas. This role offers hands‑on experience across all project phases from planning to construction administration, with mentorship and professional development to advance your career.

You will design electrical systems for diverse facilities, support construction documentation, and perform load calculations while collaborating with architects and engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 0-1 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic understanding of electrical power systems and building electrical design principles.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems.
  • Support engineers in developing construction documents, technical specifications, calculations, and reports.
  • Participate in electrical load calculations, short‑circuit studies, voltage drop analyses, and lighting calculations.
  • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering software to develop project designs and documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, plumbing engineers, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with site visits, field investigations, facility assessments, and construction observation activities.
  • Support the preparation of engineering studies, reports, and technical presentations.
  • Review shop drawings, product submittals, and requests for information (RFIs) under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of applicable building codes, electrical codes, and WSP quality standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to successful project delivery.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge through mentorship, training programs, and professional development opportunities.
