Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to develop electrical and instrumentation design deliverables across reactor, nuclear fuel, power conversion, and power distribution scopes. You will own drawing packages end-to-end, from development through checking and as-built incorporation, and mentor junior designers and contractors.

The role requires strong experience in one-line diagrams, schematics, cable routing, and NEC/IEC compliance, with a focus on nuclear safety and quality

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in electrical design, drafting, or engineering technology; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of electrical or I&C design experience in power generation, process industries, or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN and/or AVEVA Electrical, with willingness to work in both.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical and instrumentation design deliverables across Reactor, Nuclear Fuel, Power Conversion, and Power Distribution.
  • Design power distribution layouts, switchgear, MCCs, panels, transformers, and related circuits.
  • Perform cable and raceway design, conduit routing, and derating calculations per project standards.
  • Produce control panel and enclosure drawings with wiring diagrams and BOMs.
  • Develop grounding, bonding, and lightning protection layouts.
  • Prepare hazardous area classification drawings complying with NEC/IEC codes.
  • Coordinate with I&C hardware engineers on installation deliverables.
  • Apply CAD standards and manage drawings and templates.
  • Generate BOMs and support procurement evaluations.
  • Conduct field walkdowns, capture redlines, and produce as-built drawings.
