Job summary

Valar Atomics in Torrance, CA seeks a Staff Electrical Designer to own the most complex electrical and instrumentation drawing packages across reactor, nuclear fuel, power conversion, and power distribution scopes. You will lead CAD standards, mentor designers, and coordinate 3D model work with cross-discipline teams to ensure safety, reliability, and constructability.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in electrical/I&C design, strong proficiency in EPLAN and AVEVA Electrical, and a proven track

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in electrical design, drafting, or engineering technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is a plus.
• 8+ years of electrical or I&C design experience in power generation, process industries, or industrial facilities.
• Demonstrated ownership of the complete electrical/ I&C drawing scope on at least one major capital project.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70 as applied to design deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Produce and own the most complex electrical and instrumentation drawing packages across Reactor, Nuclear Fuel, Power Conversion, and Power Distribution scopes.
• Own cable and raceway design, including schedules, derating, and separation for safety-related circuits.
• Lead 3D model coordination and clash resolution; resolve interdisciplinary routing conflicts.
• Lead field walkdowns for constructability and as-built turnover; manage drawings review with vendors and contractors.
