Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. You will design electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, ensuring code compliance and coordination with architects, clients, and utilities.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, a PE license, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, PV design tools. You will mentor junior engineers, prepare technical documents, and support interconnection applications and permit processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license required.
7+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience in building electrical systems and/or renewable energy projects.
Experience with solar PV industry software (AutoCAD, Revit, PVcase, PVsyst, Helioscope, ETB).
Demonstrated expertise in electrical design and modeling; knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, UL, IEC standards.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Develop complete electrical system designs for lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and controls for commercial/industrial facilities.
Prepare roof, ground, and canopy PV system designs including site layouts, single-line diagrams, and interconnection applications.
Produce construction‑ready drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360 or similar tools.
Perform engineering calculations: load analysis, short-circuit, arc flash, voltage drop, conduit sizing.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, UL, IEC, UBC).
Coordinate with architects, clients, utilities, and other disciplines for design validation and inter-discipline coordination.
