Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Denison, IA seeks an experienced Senior EHS Manager to oversee the environmental, health, and safety functions on site.

You will lead regulatory compliance across worker safety, environmental, PSM and EMS programs, drive Injury Prevention System initiatives, and manage EHS practices at all levels. You will supervise the EHS team, coordinate training, manage reporting, and ensure continuous improvement through audits, investigations, and action plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or a related field with 8+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
• Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and remain on-call when required.
• Occasional travel will be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and management systems for the site, ensuring regulatory and company standards compliance.
• Lead and develop the EHS team, delegating tasks and guiding professional growth.
• Ensure training is conducted per regulatory and Smithfield EHS systems.
• Develop and report on KPIs; maintain conformance to ISO EHS program requirements.
• Lead investigations and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
