Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Editorial Services Manager to lead a team of editors, manage editorial and production workflows, and ensure quality and security across assessment materials. You will coordinate with content development, psychometrics, and client-facing groups, plan capacity, and monitor schedules to deliver on time.

The role emphasizes coaching, performance feedback, and process improvements, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement in serving educators and learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, education, publishing, communications, assessment, instructional content, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Five or more years of experience in editorial, assessment, publishing, production, educational content, or related environment.
• Three or more years of experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating the work of editors, technicians, production staff, or cross-functional project teams.
• Experience managing multiple complex deliverables with competing timelines and quality requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply style guides, client requirements, process documentation, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and develop a team of editors including work assignments, performance feedback, onboarding, training, and professional development.
• Oversee editorial and production workflows for teacher assessment exams, study guides, practice materials, item banks, and related deliverables.
• Plan team capacity, prioritize competing deliverables, and monitor schedules to ensure accurate, timely completion of work across multiple programs and projects.
• Ensure editorial and production work follows applicable client requirements, style guides, accessibility expectations, quality standards, and security protocols.
• Partner with content developers, assessment specialists, psychometricians, project managers, publishing teams, and client-facing groups to clarify requirements and resolve questions or blockers.
• Review project status, identify risks, elevate issues when appropriate, and implement mitigation plans to protect schedules and deliverable quality.
• Support quality control activities, including proofreading, copyediting, metadata review, item accounting checks, formatting validation, and final production review.
• Maintain and improve documented procedures, templates, tracking tools, and job logs to support consistency, efficiency, and knowledge transfer.
• Analyze workflow data, recurring defects, and feedback to recommend process improvements and strengthen team performance.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and service to educators and learners.
