Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Medical Coder to perform ED facility coding and abstracting from emergency department records, ensuring accurate billing and timely reimbursement.

You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, review documentation for MDM and E/M levels, and coordinate with providers. Proficiency with EPIC/Cerner/Meditech is preferred; confidentiality and professionalism are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of ED facility coding experience.
• Credential from AAPC or AHIMA.
• Experience assigning ED facility E/M levels.
• EHR experience (EPIC, Cerner, Meditech).
• Familiarity with encoders, CMS, AMA, coding clinics guidance.
• Working knowledge of chart completion standards.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for ED records.
• Abstract data elements required for billing and reporting.
• Review records for documentation to support ED charges.
• Communicate with providers to clarify documentation for correct levels.
• Resolve claim edits related to ED encounters to ensure compliance.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
