Job summary

WMH Alzheimer’s Support Group is seeking an Emergency Department Coder to accurately review, interpret, and code ED encounters in accordance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, E/M guidelines, ensuring proper reimbursement and compliance.

The role collaborates with providers and the Health Information Management team to resolve documentation issues, supports accurate charge entry, and requires a high school diploma; professional certification preferred, hospital coding experience required, ED coding

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National medical coding certification preferred.
• Hospital coding experience required; ED coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/payer coding requirements.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS with E/M coding.
• Experience with EHR and coding systems preferred (3M).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review ED encounters and translate into accurate diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure compliant coding for reimbursement and quality reporting.
• Maintain accurate charge entry and collaborate with care teams.
