Job summary

Life in Pittsburgh is seeking a Sr. Drive Systems Engineer to lead cross-disciplinary teams in delivering industrial Variable Speed Drive and power semiconductor solutions.

You will mentor junior engineers, support sales in cost-competitive proposals, and drive process improvements in a safety- and integrity-focused environment. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, 5+ years in MV/LV VSD technology, and the ability to obtain a US secret clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years' experience with MV and LV VSD technology including drive isolation transformers, AC and DC VSDs, and motors.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance for US military contracts.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including occasional international travel.

Responsibilities

• Leads a multi-discipline engineering team to deliver Variable Speed Drive solutions to customers.
• Provides or coordinates technical support to the Project Management team including internal and external technical presentations, change management, planning, and budget control
• Establishes strong inter-departmental and inter-company relationships to effectively achieve contract requirements including Project Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, Field Service, Suppliers, other GEV entities, and third parties (such as regulatory bodies).
• Performs design reviews to ensure deliverables meet industry standards of safety, performance, and quality
• Mentors less experienced engineers by demonstrating, coaching, and sharing best practices
• Participates in and contributes to process improvement initiatives
