Job summary
SMS group is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Pittsburgh to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge automation solutions and power drive technologies for the metals industry. You will lead projects from design through commissioning and support, mentoring junior engineers along the way.
Responsibilities include reviewing drive system requirements, outlining regulator performance, and providing expert support for Melting, Casting or Rolling Mill applications across the project life
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required or equivalent.
- Experience with automation, power and drive systems is required.
- Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and travel to project sites.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for metals industry.
- Review power system requirements for drive feeders and protection.
- Outline regulator performance based on process applications.
- Share technical expertise on Melting, Casting or Rolling Mill applications across project life cycles.
- Support existing installed systems and assist customers with technical issues.
- Develop new engineering techniques and procedures as needed.
- Interface with project teams and internal experts; provide engineering solutions.
- Mentor young engineers during project design and execution.
- Perform on-site commissioning and training as required.
