Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to support our Southeast Region in Florida offices.

You will lead hydrology and drainage design for roadway projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Required: BS in Civil Engineering, Florida PE, 5–10 years FDOT drainage/water resources experience, and proficiency with MicroStation, Civil3D, HEC-RAS, GIS, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's in water resources fields a plus)
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Florida required
• 5 - 10 years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and FDOT experience
• Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software
• Previous FDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of FDOT standards and procedures
• Florida DEP and Water Management Districts experience; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

• Collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in project plans and reports
• Designing stormwater management and storm drain systems
• Analyzing hydrologic and hydraulic models for transportation projects
• Permitting with regulatory agencies
• Mentoring junior staff and supervising production efforts
• Preparing project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and specifications
• Reviewing quantities, drawings and calculations for compliance
• Collaborating across disciplines to deliver projects on time and within budget
