Job summary

Volkert Inc. seeks a Senior Drainage Engineer for the Southeast Region, based in any Florida office. A BS in Civil Engineering is required, with a Florida P.E. license and 5–10 years of drainage/water resources experience.

The role involves data collection, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, FDOT coordination, and mentoring junior staff across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Civil Engineering (MS in water resources a plus).
• Valid P.E. license in Florida is required.
• 5–10 years experience in drainage/water resources and FDOT.
• Experience with FDOT standards and procedures; prior FDOT drainage design.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS or SUDA.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for project plans and reports.
• Design stormwater and storm drain systems, erosion and sediment control systems.
• Model hydrology and hydraulics for transportation improvement projects.
• Prepare and modify detailed engineering reports, quantities, estimates and specs.
• Oversee design activities, mentor junior staff and coordinate with subconsultants.
