Job summary

Volkert seeks a Senior Drainage Engineer for the Southeast Region, located in any of our Florida offices. A BS in Civil Engineering and Florida PE licensure are required, with 5–10 years in drainage/water resources and FDOT experience.

Responsibilities include data analysis, stormwater and hydraulic modeling, design and permitting, preparation of plans using MicroStation, Civil3D, and related tools, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering (Master’s in water resources fields a plus).
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Florida required.
• 5–10 years of drainage/water resources and FDOT experience.
• Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software.
• Previous FDOT Drainage design experience and knowledge of FDOT standards and procedures.
• Experience with Florida DEP and Water Management Districts.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and maintain a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for inclusion in Project Plans and reports.
• Use computer engineering software to design stormwater management and drainage systems.
• Analyze and design hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects.
• Manage permitting with Regulatory and Water Management agencies.
• Assist with project plans using MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and AutoCAD.
• Contribute to preparation of engineering reports and calculations for diverse projects.
• Prepare project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and specifications.
• Review quantity estimates, details, and check drawings for compliance.
• Prepare and assist with project schedules and timelines.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with subconsultants to deliver quality projects on time and budget.
• Oversee design activities, mentor junior staff and designers.
• Perform other professional, management, marketing and networking duties as assigned.
