Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to lead design teams on 2.4kV–34.5kV overhead and underground projects in the Morristown area. You will oversee design packages, perform critical calculations, and manage schedules and budgets across multiple projects while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires strong knowledge of electrical distribution, EPC experience preferred, and willingness to travel to client sites and campuses.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or related discipline with 7+ years in distribution engineering (EPC experience preferred).
• FE exam with 7 years distribution engineering experience option.
• Master's degree with 6+ years experience option.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
• Experience with overhead and underground construction methods.
• Proficient in distribution design software and GIS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsabilités

• Lead design of distribution packages for overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
• Review cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
• Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budget, resource forecasting, and construction planning; manage change orders.
• Apply knowledge to complex projects to find non-standard design solutions.
• Oversee or perform QA/QC reviews of project deliverables.
• Oversee or perform construction administration activities.
• Lead field inspections for overhead and underground electric facilities; prepare technical reports for clients.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors; identify new business opportunities.
• Participate in sales and marketing efforts and develop cost proposals and qualifications statements.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate about vegetation management, right-of-way, and outage planning.
