Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Newton, MA is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead design teams on underground transmission and distribution projects from 13.2kV to 500kV. You will coordinate with construction, procurement, and permitting teams and interface with utility clients to deliver solutions within budget and client needs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 3+ years transmission engineering experience.
• FE exam completed or EIT certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead design teams of 2–10 engineers and designers for underground transmission projects.
• Coordinate with construction, procurement and permitting teams.
• Develop routing analyses using CAD/GIS tools and perform cost estimating.
• Prepare construction packages and equipment specifications.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and execution schedules.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to staff; meet with clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure QA/QC guidance and project deliverables meet client satisfaction.
