Burns & McDonnell in Honolulu is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to lead design project teams for new, alterations and redevelopment on 2.4kV to 46kV overhead and underground distribution projects. You will guide the design through construction, adapting to budget, design factors, or client needs.

You will oversee QA/QC, lead field inspections, develop cost proposals, mentor engineers, manage schedules and budgets, and build strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 7 years of distribution engineering experience.
• Expert knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
• Strong knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods and distribution system equipment.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Experience in distribution design software and GIS to aid in design.
• Expert knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting for distribution projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with leading the design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel; PE license preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead design of distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including installation and feeder design.
• Review distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading.
• Apply knowledge of NESC and utility standards.
• Develop project schedules, scope, budget, resource forecasting, and manage changes.
• Provide QA/QC for project deliverables and mentor junior staff.
• Lead field inspections for overhead and underground facilities.
• Prepare technical reports for clients and publications.
• Build client relationships and pursue new business opportunities; participate in sales efforts.
• Develop cost proposals and qualification statements to reach targets.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies.
