Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Specialist to lead telecom design across diverse facilities from concept to design completion, under licensed engineers.

You will modify drawings, apply advanced telecom engineering techniques, manage data for client presentations, supervise field measurements, participate in sales, and help develop budgets and cost estimates while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology or related degree from an accredited program and 7 years of telecommunications engineering experience.
• Or, Associate Degree and 9 years required.
• Or, High School Diploma/GED and 11 years required.
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD and related analysis programs.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead telecommunications design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion under the direction of a licensed professional engineer.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
• Design telecommunications components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
• Apply advanced knowledge of telecommunications engineering/design concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the industry.
• Research and compile project related data as required by project managers.
• Update drawings to verify corrections across CAD software.
• Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates; report project performance.
• Provide leadership and instruction to the telecommunications engineering practice; mentor staff.
