Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Distribution Designer to provide distribution design project management for customer projects. The role focuses on safe, cost-effective designs balancing customer needs with company standards.

Responsibilities include leading projects from contact to post-analysis, obtaining permits, and coordinating with public authorities and contractors. The position offers a hybrid work model depending on location and team needs.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in drafting/design/engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of GIS, design software, work management programs, and related systems desirable.
• Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
• Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design safe operating facilities for new and existing customers per Xcel Energy standards and guidance.
• Manage projects from initial customer contact through post-project analysis; plan and meet schedules and budgets.
• Obtain permits/easements and execute contracts in compliance with regulations.
• Represent the Company with government officials, contractors, and engineers to deliver service.
