Job summary

Xcel Energy seeks an experienced Designer at various levels to lead distribution design projects for commercial, industrial, and residential customers. The role involves coordinating with customers, construction teams, and regulatory bodies to deliver cost-effective designs that meet company standards.

The position requires a strong background in drafting/design, GIS, and design software, with opportunities for mentorship and collaboration across departments in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in drafting, design, automation, electronics, mechatronics, engineering or GIS.
• Min 2 years' experience for Designer II; 5+ years for Senior/Principal with related roles.
• Proficient in GIS, design software, and work management tools.
• Strong knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes.

Responsibilities

• Design safe operating facilities for new and existing customers.
• Manage projects from initial customer contact to post-project analysis.
• Mentor Designers and provide direction across teams.
• Represent the Company with government officials, contractors, and engineers to provide service to customers.
• Coordinate permits and easements in compliance with regulations.
