Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a skilled distribution engineer for a hybrid in-office/remote role in the Chicago area. You will lead a project team, review construction sketches, and ensure accurate design for 4 kV through 38 kV distribution systems, with field support as needed.

The position requires 6+ years of distribution experience, strong communication, and familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and PoleForeman. Collaboration and client interaction are essential.

Qualifications

• This position requires an Associate's degree in a design-related degree, or a 4 year non-engineering degree.
• 6 or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to review work by others.
• Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application.
• Knowledgeable in applicable codes, standards, and distribution software programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman, etc.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 38kV).
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to lead a project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/Review construction sketches and work packages for overhead and underground distribution facilities.
• Lead engineers and designers in a project team environment.
• Support preliminary project scoping and field work when necessary.
• Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
• Plan modifications to the system and oversee complex tasks.
• Provide construction support when necessary and communicate with clients.
