Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Head of Professional Liability Claims to lead a multi-disciplinary team within Commercial space, covering Financial & Professional Lines and Healthcare claims across Wholesale, Specialty, Programs and Public Entity lines. The role reports to the Chief Claims Officer and sits on the leadership team.

The role focuses on defining and executing Claims Best Practices, guiding high-exposure claims, and fostering a culture of positivity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of claims and/or relevant legal experience.
• 3+ years of management experience with strong record of demonstrated leadership.
• Experience handling public entity multi-line E&O, malpractice, D&O, EPLI, cyber, fiduciary, crime, and transactional liability
• Superior coverage analytic ability
• Excellent and diplomatic communicator
• Customer-service and relationship-oriented

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive claim-handling direction to team members regarding investigation, reserving, expense/vendor management, and settlement in line with Claims Best Practices.
• Monitor and oversee strategy on high exposure, litigated, coverage, and complex claims to ensure optimal outcomes and timely escalation with Practice Lead and leadership.
• Help team achieve professional goals and support development and career objectives.
• Communicate and present key claim issues to Claims leadership and other stakeholders, including Underwriting, Actuarial and Operations.
• Identify initiatives and provide feedback for continual improvement of operations.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to strengthen the business through market meetings and thought leadership.
• Foster maximum employee engagement by seeking feedback from the team.
