Job summary

Request Technology, LLC is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering for a prestigious financial institution to lead SRE, observability, and cloud platform engineering across a large AWS-based environment. You will drive reliability, mentor managers, and partner with SRE/monitoring and architecture teams to raise the bar on performance and efficiency.

The role requires hands-on leadership, governance of SLOs/SLAs, and scalable templates/pipelines to reduce toil and accelerate onboarding.

Qualifications

5+ years leading engineering teams in large-scale environments.
10+ years hands-on software engineering with AWS focus.
Proven track record in SRE/observability practices at scale.
Experience defining and governing SLOs/SLAs, resilience practices.
Experience delivering IaC and cloud platform tooling.

Responsibilities

Manage and develop a team of engineers and managers focused on SRE, observability, and cloud platform engineering.
Lead hiring and staffing for the team, including sourcing, interviewing, and selecting engineers and managers.
Provide coaching and feedback on performance; conduct evaluations as needed.
Develop career development plans and manage production changes during maintenance windows.
Serve as escalation point for reliability, observability, and platform issues.
Drive platform engineering delivery with reliability metrics and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with architecture to align cloud platform decisions with standards.
