CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Software Engineering to shape a founder-like vision, execute as a principal engineer, and lead at the industry’s highest levels. You will set the bar and raise it across a multi-team organization, driving architectural standards and engineering excellence.

You will own delivery at velocity, partner with Product and Health care leaders, and push for responsible AI, scalable systems, and transformative engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading large-scale engineering organizations.
• Deep, hands-on foundation in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production deployments and ML workflows.
• Track record migrating monoliths to microservices and modernizing legacy platforms.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy across a multi-team engineering organization (50-150+ engineers).
• Embed LLMs, generative AI, agentic workflows, and ML-powered automation into the engineering lifecycle.
• Own delivery at velocity and hold teams to high standards for outcomes.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineers, and Health care leaders to translate business strategy into engineering bets.
• Be the technical voice in the room, address debt, and advocate for investments.
