Job summary

Avalere Health in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Director, AI Transformation to lead client-focused AI strategy and governance for a strategic pharma engagement. You will guide executive client partnerships, develop an AI roadmap, and ensure measurable value across the portfolio.

Crucially, you will mobilize cross-functional teams, oversee end-to-end delivery from prototype to production, and champion responsible AI with governance, adoption, and change-management.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience (12+ years) in transformation, consulting, digital product, innovation or client leadership, with pharma or life sciences exposure.
• Executive credibility with senior leaders in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Experience moving AI/analytics/automation from discovery to adopted, governed workflows.
• Practical understanding of large language models, agent workflows, model evaluation, data and integration.
• Transformation capability: process mapping, workflow redesign, operating-model change, adoption and benefits realization.
• Strong facilitation, writing and executive presentation skills; ability to clarify complex choices.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders to set AI priorities and roadmap.
• Develop and maintain a joint AI transformation roadmap aligned to client priorities.
• Establish governance, decision pathways and executive reporting across AI portfolio.
• Lead workshops and interviews to identify high-value opportunities and articulate requirements.
• Turn challenges into briefs, scopes of work and delivery plans with acceptance criteria.
• Prioritise portfolio by strategic value, feasibility and value realization.
• Mobilise cross-functional teams around priority use cases.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery from prototype to production and handover.
• Redesign future-state workflows and handoffs to embed AI in day-to-day practice.
• Build adoption through playbooks, training and change enablement.
• Ensure responsible use with guardrails and human oversight.
• Measure impact with baselines, adoption and client outcomes to drive scale.
• Deepen the partnership and articulate value to expand engagement.
• Develop reusable playbooks and patterns while protecting confidentiality.
