Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to drive technical strategy for a multi-team backend platform, guiding architecture, standards, and engineering excellence across 50-150 engineers.

You will own delivery with velocity, embed AI/LLM, and partner with Health care leaders to translate business strategy into bold engineering bets, while upholding responsible AI and quality in production systems. Strong collaboration and scale to tens of thousands of users are expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including leadership of large teams.
• Deep background in distributed systems and cloud-native backend engineering.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production deployments and model pipelines.
• Track record of migrating to microservices and modernizing legacy platforms.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy across a multi-team engineering organization.
• Embed LLMs, generative AI, agentic workflows, and ML-powered automation into the engineering lifecycle.
• Own delivery at velocity and be accountable for outcomes.
• Partner at the executive level with Product owners, Data Engineers, and Health care leaders.
• Be the technical voice in the room, calling out architectural debt and infeasible timelines.
