Job summary

Confident Search Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Digital Hardware in the Syracuse area for a DoD sensing technology manufacturer. The role focuses on leading digital hardware design, FPGA work, and rapid development of high-speed systems.

You will collaborate with a cross-disciplinary engineering team to design multi-layer PCBs, implement FPGA solutions on Xilinx platforms, and validate hardware from prototyping through production, with opportunities for stock options and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of digital hardware design experience.
• Experience with analog and digital circuits including FPGAs, microcontrollers, memory, and high-speed interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
• Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog.
• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced digital hardware for next-generation products.
• Design multi-layer PCBs, develop schematics, and support board layout activities.
• Architect and develop FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog on modern Xilinx platforms.
• Perform hardware integration, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Design high-speed digital interfaces, data acquisition systems, digital signal processing (DSP), and communication architectures.
• Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate engineering workflows and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
