Job summary

Nextran Corporation is seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Technician in the Atlanta South area to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty diesel trucks in our Engine Shop. You will work with top technicians, mentor teammates, and lead projects to keep equipment reliable and on schedule.

The role requires a strong diagnostic background, hands-on mechanical skills, and the ability to document findings clearly.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus).
• Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
• ASE Certifications are a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy‑dug diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
• Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
