Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate will have strong Kubernetes, AWS, and scripting skills, plus a DoD 8140/8570 compliant security background.

The role focuses on implementing infra, automating deployments, and ensuring monitoring, reliability, and scalability of services in a primarily on-site setting with occasional off-hours work.

Qualifications

• Must currently have and maintain an active TS/SCI with CI Poly U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and related degree; or 7 years with masters; or 13 years with high school diploma.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and deployment/management.
• Proficient in Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with application, container, OS deployment and scaling.
• Programming in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Git, Flux, and related tooling.
• Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Exemplary problem solving and communication skills.
• AGILE software development and standard tool suites.
• Experience as a tech lead/mentor/manager for eng teams.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certifications (e.g. Security+).
• Willing to work onsite in Columbia, MD and flexible for off-hours.

Responsibilities

• Support AWS cloud infrastructure deployment (AWS EKS).
• Support edge/on-prem infrastructure deployment.
• Automate deployment processes for reliability and scale.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and cloud infra.
• Collaborate with dev teams to integrate apps into infra.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems.
• Improve processes and tools for high availability.
• Stay updated on new tech and best practices.
• Mentor team members and provide senior-level guidance.
• Occasional off-hours/weekend maintenance.
