Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to maintain and enhance enterprise databases, design schemas, and optimize performance across on-premise and cloud environments. You will handle incidents, tune queries, and contribute to architecture standards while collaborating with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience.
• Minimum 4 years as Senior Database Developer or equivalent.
• Extensive hands-on experience in SQL 2016 and higher.
• Experience with Azure-based database systems (Managed Instance, Hyperscale, Azure SQL DB, VMs) and large (>2 TB) databases.
• Experience writing complex stored procedures, functions and triggers.
• Understanding of execution plans, system views, and dynamic SQL.
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices.
• Proven performance optimization for OLTP and OLAP.
• Experience with SQL Server HADR technologies (Always On, log shipping, backups).
• Experience with monitoring/dashboard tools (SSMS, Grafana, PowerBI, etc.).
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with Git or version control.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects across on-premise and cloud databases.
• Recommend database approaches to architecture and application staff.
• Drive innovation with newer data technologies.
• Establish coding standards with Architecture team for procedures and schema.
• Review and approve complex structural database changes.
• Optimize queries and develop efficient SQL code.
• Lead investigation and resolution of database incidents and SLA adherence.
• Build and maintain database monitoring infrastructure and dashboards.
• Support database security and compliance using encryption and masking tools.
• Advise on data retention, tiering, and archiving strategies for high-volume production databases.
• Collaborate with Architecture, QA, Application Development, and Infrastructure teams.
• Work with multiple departments to implement and maintain database code.
