Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to maintain and improve our database systems, design objects, optimize performance, and lead incidents in a mainly remote role with some hybrid opportunities. You will work across on-prem and cloud databases, ensuring security, efficiency and reliability for large-scale enterprise data environments.

The role requires deep SQL expertise, cloud databases on Azure, and experience with high-availability architectures.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience.
• ~ Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent
• ~ Extensive hands-on experience in SQL 2016 and higher
• ~ Hands on experience with cloud-based database systems in Azure using Managed Instance, Azure SQL Hyperscale, Azure SQL DB, and VMs.
• ~ Experience writing complex database procedures, functions and triggers
• ~ Understanding of execution plans, system views, and dynamic SQL
• ~ Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices
• ~ Proven innovation and analytical ability with extensive implementation skills
• ~ Proven success in performance optimization for OLTP and OLAP applications
• ~ Experience with SQL Server HADR technologies, including Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and backup/recovery strategies.
• ~ Experience with database monitoring platforms and dashboard tools such as SSMS, Grafana, PowerBI, or other third-party tools.
• ~ Experience with SSIS or other ETL tooling.
• ~ Experience with SSRS or other managed reporting platforms
• ~ Familiarity with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• ~ Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage, Synapse Analytics, or other cloud native platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects (indexes, views, procedures) in on-premise and cloud databases.
• Optimize queries and procedures; develop efficient, scalable SQL code.
• Lead investigation and resolution of database incidents and escalations.
• Implement data retention, tiering, and archive strategies for high-volume production databases.
• Support database security using encryption and data masking.
• Collaborate with Architecture, QA, App Development and Infrastructure teams to implement and maintain database code.
