Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to maintain and improve databases, design solutions, and optimize SQL across on‑premise and cloud environments. You will collaborate with data teams, respond to incidents, and align with security and compliance requirements.

The role emphasizes ownership, service mentality, and continuous improvement, with multi‑project time management and opportunities to influence data architecture and monitoring across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent.
• Extensive hands‑on experience in SQL 2016 and higher.
• Hands on experience with cloud‑based database systems in Azure using Managed Instance, Azure SQL Hyperscale, Azure SQL DB, and VMs.
• Extensive experience dealing with multiple large databases (>2 TB).
• Experience writing complex database procedures, functions and triggers.
• Understanding of execution plans, system views, and dynamic SQL.
• Strong understanding of database structures, principles and practices.
• Proven ability to optimize OLTP and OLAP performance.
• Experience with SQL Server HADR technologies (Always On, etc.).
• Experience with database monitoring platforms and dashboards (SSMS, Grafana, PowerBI).
• Proficiency in PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with Git or other version control.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects in on‑premise and cloud databases.
• Drive innovation and improve data technologies.
• Establish coding standards for procedures and schema design.
• Review complex structural changes to databases and optimize queries.
• Lead investigation and resolution of database incidents.
• Build and maintain database monitoring infrastructure for alerts and dashboards.
• Support database security and compliance requirements.
• Advise on data retention, tiering, and archiving strategies.
• Collaborate with Architecture, QA, App Dev, and Infra teams.
