Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join the Technology Platform team for the Hospice unit.

You will lead the SQL Server modernization on EC2, plan upgrades off SQL Server 2016, and drive migration to AWS RDS or in‑place upgrades while modernizing SSIS ETL and SSRS reporting. You will optimize costs, mentor the Hospice SQL DBA team, and ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across databases.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end‑of‑support migrations, including upgrade testing.
• Strong hands‑on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi‑AZ.
• Experience with AWS‑native ETL and data migration tools (AWS DMS, AWS Glue) and/or plans to modernize SSIS‑based ETL in AWS.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Experience with AWS Backup, DMS, and Glue.
• Experience migrating or modernizing SSIS/SSRS workloads to AWS‑native ETL and reporting.
• Experience with Terraform for DB infrastructure management.
• Experience with other DB engines (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for future modernization.
• Experience with Windows Server administration.
• AWS certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect).
• Experience mentoring junior DBAs or application developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of the SQL Server modernization on EC2: migration to AWS RDS (SQL Server) and/or in‑place upgrade from SQL Server 2016, including compatibility and upgrade testing.
• Assess, migrate, and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports, either re‑platforming to AWS‑native ETL/reporting or upgrading on SQL Server on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right‑sizing, Reserved Instances, storage tiering, and licensing cost reduction.
• Upskill and mentor the Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud‑native database monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design and implement automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for all database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database‑related development needs.
• Evaluate future database modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for the 2027 roadmap.
