Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Senior Database Security Engineer to design and automate database activity monitoring across AWS, Azure, and on‑prem environments. You will build secure, scalable monitoring and auditing solutions and contribute to policy enforcement and incident response.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of SQL Server/database security experience, strong Python and Linux scripting skills, and a track record delivering CI/CD enabled security automation in Agile teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a SQL Server engineer or database developer with security engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting on Linux, with CI/CD practices.
• Experience with AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server security features.
• Knowledge of database security controls: auditing, encryption, entitlements, vaulting.
• Experience integrating REST APIs for automation and monitoring workflows.
• Hands-on Linux administration in production.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years as a SQL Server engineer or database developer with hands‑on security engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting on Linux, with CI/CD practices.
• Expertise with AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server administration and security features.
• Strong knowledge of database security controls including native auditing, encryption in transit and at rest, entitlements, and password vaulting.
• Experience integrating REST APIs for automation and monitoring workflows.
• Hands‑on Linux administration in production environments.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Guardium or comparable database activity monitoring platforms.
• Automation with Ansible for configuration management at scale.
• Familiarity with Azure database services and cross‑cloud patterns.
• Practice in Agile/Scrum frameworks using Jira and Horizon.
